MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS AT ADAMS STATE, 82-74,
BEHIND 40 POINTS FROM BAHL

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines senior guard Stephen Bahl (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) poured in 40 points to lead the Orediggers to an 82-74 victory over Adams State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Monday night at Plachy Hall.

It marked the second time this season Bahl scored at least 40 points as he went for a career-high 50 points in a loss to South Dakota on Nov. 26. Bahl scored 20 points in each half Monday night and hit 12-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point land and 11-of-16 from the charity stripe. He also tallied eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

CSM (7-3, 3-1 RMAC) stretched a 7-point lead to 13 points with 12:04 remaining in the game after Grizzly Head Coach Larry Mortensen was ejected as he picked up two technical fouls. Bahl connected on all four free throws, sophomore guard Franklin Ryk (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) nailed both of his and that was followed by a three-pointer from junior guard Kevin Wagstaff (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart) which gave Mines its largest lead of the game, 64-48.

ASC (0-10, 0-4 RMAC) sliced the lead to eight points with 4:10 left, but would get no closer as Bahl and Wagstaff combined to nail 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch.

Wagstaff complemented Bahl with 23 points as the two combined to score 63 of the 82 points.

David Hull led the Grizzlies with 27 points, while David Mitchell posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.

CSM will return to action on Dec. 31 when it hosts Montana Tech at 7:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium.
