CSM MEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS JOHNSON AND WALES, 94-73 GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team placed five players in double figures and knocked off Johnson and Wales for the second time this season, 94-73, Friday night in Volk Gymnasium in nonconference action. CSM, which led 43-35 at halftime, tallied 51 points in the second half as it shot 14-of-23 (.609) from the field and 4-of-8 (.500) from three-point land in the final 20 minutes. Junior guard Kevin Wagstaff (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart) led the way with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists, while senior guard Stephen Bahl (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) added 18 points to tie for team-high honors. Senior forward Farris Broussard (San Jose, Calif./Independence) tallied 13 points, freshman forward Ben Mohr (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) added 11 markers and sophomore forward Davey Iverson (Winnett, Mont./Winnett) registered 11 points and a team-best eight boards. Donald Whitfield led the Wildcats (6-7) with 22 points, while Will Butler recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Mines (4-2) will return to action next Friday when it hosts Western State at 8:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium in the RMAC opener. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
