MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS, 100-59

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines senior guard Stephen Bahl (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) scored 33 points and junior guard Kevin Wagstaff (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart) added 20 to lead the Orediggers to a 100-59 victory over New Mexico Highlands in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Saturday night in Volk Gymnasium

It marked the second straight game CSM scored at least 100 points.

CSM (11-3, 5-1 RMAC) raced out to a 14-0 lead four minutes into the game and extended the lead to 65-27 at halftime. Mines shot 20-of-30 (.767) from the field in the first 20 minutes, including 13-of-16 (.813) from three-point land. Bahl, Wagstaff and sophomore guard Franklin Ryk (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) each connected on 4-of-5 three-pointers in the opening half.

Bahl and Wagstaff each finished with three assists, while Ryk added 12 points and four steals, senior forward Farris Broussard (San Jose, Calif./Independence) tallied eight rebounds and sophomore forward Clayton Moores (Denver, Colo./Ranum) chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.

Robert Franklin led Highlands (2-11, 1-5 RMAC) with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

CSM returns to action Thursday night when it travels to CSU-Pueblo for an 8:00 pm game.
