MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL KNOCKS OFF REGIS, 66-52

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team closed out the final seven minutes of the first half on a 12-2 run to turn a one-point deficit into a 36-27 halftime lead and defeated Regis University in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Friday night in Volk Gymnasium.

CSM improves to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play, while the Rangers slip to 11-5 overall (4-4 RMAC).

Mines was led by junior guard Kevin Wagstaff (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart) who tallied a game-best 21 points and three steals. Senior forward Farris Broussard (San Jose, Calif./Independence) added eight points, a game-high eight rebounds and two blocked shots and senior guard Stephen Bahl (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) posted 11 points and five boards.

Regis was paced by Austin Christensen who scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Mines returns to action Saturday night when it hosts top-ranked Metro State at 8:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium.
