MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS UCCS, 106-72

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team opened the first six minutes of the game on a 26-7 run and claimed a 106-72 victory over CU-Colorado Springs in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Friday night in Volk Gymnasium.

Following the hot start, the Mountain Lions were able to slice the lead to 10 points (49-39) at the half, but CSM junior guard Kevin Wagstaff (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart) hit a pair of three pointers to open the second half and extend the Oredigger lead to 55-39 lessa than a minute in.

Mines (10-3, 4-1 RMAC) senior guard Stephen Bahl (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) scored a game-best 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting (4-6 on three-pointers). Freshman forward Ben Mohr (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) added a career-high 17 points and a career-best eight boards, while Wagstaff chipped in 16 markers and four assists.

Sophomore guard Franklin Ryk (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) added 11 points and seven boards and sophomore forward Davey Iverson (Winnett, Mont./Winnett) registered 10 points and five boards off the bench.

UCCS (0-11, 0-5 RMAC) was paced by 20 points and nine boards from Jim Pecic. Torrey Phillips (15) and Trey White (12) also reached double digits for the Mountain Lions.

CSM is slated to return to action Saturday night when it hosts New Mexico Highlands at 8:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium.
