MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS WESTERN STATE AND
MESA STATE TO OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team opened conference play over the weekend with two wins. On Friday, CSM knocked off Western State, 73-50, before handing Mesa State a 79-59 setback Saturday night in Volk Gymnasium.

Junior guard Kevin Wagstaff (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart) led the Orediggers as he totaled 45 points in the two games, including a game-high 24 in the win over Western. Senior guard Stephen Bahl (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) chipped in 16 points Friday and a game-best 22 against Mesa State, while sophomore center Clayton Moores (Denver, Colo./Ranum) grabbed eight rebounds in both games.

Josh Downey led Western with 15 points, while Andy Classick and Adam Wall had 10 points apiece for Mesa State.

Mines (6-2, 2-0 RMAC) is slated to return to action Saturday night at Fort Lewis. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 pm.
