MINES WOMEN'S WINS AT ADAMS STATE, 56-54,
AS KILMER HITS GAME-WINNER

ALAMOSA, Colo. - For the second straight game, the Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team pulled out a win in the final seconds as senior guard Kim Kilmer (Stoneham, Colo./Prairie) hit a five-foot runner in traffic with 5.9 seconds left to give the Orediggers a 56-54 win over Adams State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action at Plachy Hall on Monday night.

On Saturday night, senior guard Heather Hoops (Golden, Colo./Wheat Ridge) hit a jumper with nine seconds left to give Mines a 63-62 win at Fort Lewis.

In Monday's game, the Orediggers opened the second half on a 15-2 run and led by as many as 18 points. However, the Grizzlies slowly chipped away at the lead and cut it to four points with just over a minute left.

Katie Doherty hit a three-pointer for ASC and Tasha Imadiyi knotted the game at 54-54 with a free throw with 24 seconds left. But Mines pulled out the win when Kilmer hit the game-winner. The Grizzlies called two timeouts to set up a play, but turned the ball over on the inbounds pass.

Mines (6-2, 4-0 RMAC) received 14 points and nine rebounds from junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs), while Kilmer added 14 points, five assists and four boards.

The Grizzlies (3-7, 1-3 RMAC) were led by Doherty who totaled 20 points, including 6-of-9 from three-point range.

Mines will return to action on Dec. 29-30 when it plays at the Metro State Christmas Tournament. CSM will play Minnesota-Duluth on the 29th and Nebraska-Omaha on the 30th. Both games will tip at 1:00 pm.
