MINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WINS AT REGIS, 53-45 DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team knocked off 24th-ranked Regis, 53-45, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Saturday night at the Regis Fieldhouse. The win moves Mines to 19-8 overall and 13-6 in the RMAC and gives them the No. 5 seed in next week's RMAC/Wells Fargo Shootout. The Orediggers will open play with a quarterfinal game at fourth-seeded Fort Hays State (21-6, 14-5 RMAC) on Wednesday at 7:00 pm (CST). It is the second straight year CSM has earned a berth in the conference tournament. Junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) led the win over Regis as she tallied 19 points and four rebounds, while Denise Lopez totaled 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Rangers. Regis, also ranked first in the North Central Region, had already assured itself of the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and will open play Wednesday night with a 7:00 pm game against Colorado State-Pueblo at home. - OREDIGGERS -- |
