MINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS NATIONALLY-RANKED DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team outscored 22nd ranked Minnesota-Duluth, 15-2, in overtime to earn a 63-50 victory Wednesday afternoon at the Metro State Red Lion Christmas Classic at the Auraria Events Center. Leading 24-19 at the half, the Orediggers would go on to be outscored 29-24 in the second half as the game went into overtime. However, CSM held Duluth to 1-of-8 (.125) shooting from the floor in the extra session, while hitting 4-of-6 (.667) from the floor and all six of its free throw attempts in overtime. Mines (7-2, 4-0 RMAC) placed four players in double figures. Junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) notched 13 points, six boards and three blocks, senior guard Kristin Horkey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists, while senior guard Kim Kilmer (Stoneham, Colo./Prarie) contributed 12 points and seven rebounds. Duluth (10-3) was led by a double-double from Lindsey Dietz who tallied 16 points and 11 boards. CSM returns to action Thursday afternoon when it battles Nebraska-Omaha at 1:00 pm in the final day of the Metro State Christmas Classic.
