MINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES TO METRO STATE, 60-55

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team fell to Metro State, 60-55, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball action Saturday night in Volk Gymnasium.

The Orediggers led at halftime, 31-24, and extended the lead to 12 points44-32) with 12:17 to play in the game. However, the Roadrunners closed the final 12 minutes of action on a 28-11 run to claim the win.

Mines (12-5, 6-3 RMAC) was led by junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) who tallied a game-best 23 points and seven boards. Senior forward Kristin Horkey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) added 17 points, six rebounds and five steals for Mines.

Metro State (14-3, 8-1 RMAC) received 18 points and seven rebounds from Stephanie Davis, including eight points in the final three minutes to seal the win.

Mines returns to action on Thursday night when it travels to Chadron State for a 6:00 pm game.
