MINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT FORT HAYS STATE, 81-53

HAYS, Kan. - The fifth-seeded Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team had its season come to an end with an 81-53 loss at fourth-seeded Fort Hays State in the First Round of the RMAC/Wells Fargo Shootout Wednesday night at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

CSM ends its season with a school-record 19 wins against nine losses, while the Tigers move on to the semifinals where it will play top-seeded Regis on Saturday at 11:00 am at the World Arena in Colorado Springs.

FHSU (22-6) claimed a 31-27 lead at halftime and the Orediggers were able to knot the game at 37-37 with 15:36 to play in the game. However, the Tigers would go on a 19-4 run over the next five minutes to claim a 16 point lead and Mines was never able to cut it under 10 the rest of the night.

Mines was led by senior forward Kristin Horkey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) who totaled 14 points and five rebounds. Junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs), who earlier in the day was named the RMAC East Division Player of the Week, recorded 11 points and three boards, while senior guard Kim Kilmer (Stoneham, Colo./Prairie) added 12 points and three steals.

FHSU, which placed four players in double digits, was led by Crystal Harden who amassed 18 points and eight rebounds.
