MINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS UCCS, 51-40

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines senior guard Kristin Horkey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds and junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) added nine points and a career-high 19 rebounds to lead the Orediggers to a 51-40 victory over CU-Colorado Springs in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball action Friday night in Volk Gymnasium.

The victory extends the Orediggers school-record win streak to nine games.

With the game tied at 26-26 wth 12:56 to play in the game, Horkey converted a three-point play that gave Mines a 29-26 lead which was pushed to as many as 15 points late in the game.

Mines (10-2, 5-0 RMAC) also received 11 points and five boards from senior guard Gina Cornelio (Tucson, Ariz./Sal Pointe).

UCCS (4-6, 1-4) got a game-high 18 points and six blocks from Julie Richards.

CSM returns to action Saturday night when it hosts New Mexico Highlands at 6:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium.
