MINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS WESTERN STATE GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team picked up two wins over the weekend to open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference portion of its schedule. On Friday, CSM handed Western State a 75-57 setback and came back on Saturday to earn a 60-55 win over Mesa State in Volk Gymnasium. On Friday, junior center Ashley Gronewoller (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Pagosa Springs) led the way with 25 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Kristin Horkey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) added 12 points, while senior guard Heather Hoops (Golden, Colo./Wheat Ridge) and sophomore forward Angela Pearson (Arvada, Colo./Maranatha) chipped in 11 markers each. Audra Lawson led the Mountaineers with 18 points. In Saturday's contest, Gronewoller posted 18 points and five boards, while senior guard Kim Kilmer (Stoneham, Colo./Prairie) registered 17 points and eight boards to lead the way.
