head womens basketball coach at Colorado School of Mines. Last
season, Krueger led CSM to its best season in program history as the
team tallied a 19-9 overall record, including 13-6 in the Rocky Mountain

Hometown PPG RPG APG MINES PICKED FIFTH IN PRESEASON RMAC POLL: The Colorado School of Mines womens basketball team was picked fifth out of seven teams in the Preseason RMAC East Division Poll. Regis University was picked to win the division as it received 8 first place votes and 18 points. Metro State was picked second with 23 points, while Fort Hays State was third with 43 points. Nebraska-Kearney (44 points), Mines (58), Chadron State (72) and Colorado Christian (85) rounded out the poll. LAST TIME OUT (12/30): The Colorado School of Mines womens basketball team ended the 2005 year with two home games in the Colorado School of Mines Holiday Classic. Mines came away with two victorys one against the number 21 ranked team in Division II, Carson Newman on Thursday the 29th. Mines defeated the Eagles 66-49. Iva Tomova led the team with 19 points while Kelsey Crist added 12 and Ashley Gronewoller chipped in 10. The following day, Mines went onto defeat another tough team, Nebraska-Omaha who had only lost two games this season before falling to the Orediggers 53-48. Once again, Tomova led the team with a season high of 26 points. LAST TIME vs. HIGHLANDS: Last season the Orediggers fell short to New Mexico Highlands 63-58. The Orediggers started slow going into halftime trailing by 18 points, a second half comeback was in store as Mines outscored the Cowgirls 48-35, however it wasnt enough as time expired. The Cowgirls ended the night with three players in double figures as Mines only had two, two which graduated last year. The Cowgirls return two of the three, Danielle Murphy and Sheila Sirmans. LAST TIMEvs. CU-COLORADO SPRINGS: Mines came away with a 51-40 victory of the Mountain Lions last year. Ashley Gronewoller ended the game with nine points while CU returns Julie Richards who had 18.
GRONEWOLLER THIS SEASON: This season, Gronewoller is averaging 15.2 points and 8.0 rebounds. She was named the RMAC Player of the Week in week 3. Currently, Gronewoller ranks eighth in the RMAC with a 15.2 average for points per game, is fourth in rebounding (8.0) and is third with a .569 field goal percentage. GRONEWOLLER RECORDS: Gronewoller is also closing in on three Colorado School of Mines records. She currently ranks fourth with career points with 1,183, third in career rebounds with 711 and fourth in career field goals made with 472. ANGLEA AMONG US: Junior forward Angela Pearson is also back looking to make big strides following an impressive season last year in which she was fourth on the team in scoring (8.4) and third in rebounds (5.8). Pearson currently is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 6.5 per game and is averaging 8.9 points per game, third on the team. OUT OF THIS COUNTRY: Iva Tomova is originally from Varna, Bulgaria and transfered to Mines from Northeastern Junior College, after a successful career at her junior college, Tomova leads the team with a 15.5 points per game, which puts her 7th in the RMAC. She also has scored in double figures in 10 of the eleven games the Orediggers have played this season. Tomova led Mines this past weekend with game highs in both nights. She ended with 19 points against Carson Newman and a season high of 26 against Nebraska-Omaha. BE LIKE EICK: After sitting out last season due to injury, Sara Eickelman will be Mines starting point guard this season. Eickelman started the season against Johnson and Wales ending with seven points and five assists and led Mines against Northern State with 14 points. She leads the team with 33 assists, which puts her seventh in the RMAC.
LETS GET 60: The number 60 appears to be the good luck charm for the womens basketball team. In the past three seasons, Mines is 25-3 when it scores at least 60 points. CSM only lost once last season when it scored at least 60 points and it was on February 18, 2005 against Nebraska Kearney. Mines lost 73-62. This season, Mines is 4-2 when they score at least 60. KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE: Mines is currenlty on a three game winning
streak. With games on the road this weekend, Mines looks to continue
the winning streak with games against New Mexico Highlands and CU-Colorado
Springs.
