CSM ends season with 61-53 victory at CCU LAKEWOOD, Colo. (Feb. 23, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Colorado Christian University by the score of 61-53 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday night, February 23rd, at the Cougar Event Center in Lakewood. (Feb. 22, 2008) - The Metropolitan State College of Denver defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 66-46 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women's basketball action on Friday night, February 22nd, at the Auraria Events Center in Denver. For the box score, click here. Metro State (18-9 overall, 14-5 RMAC), which outscored CSM 32-16 in the second half, got a team-most 19 points from Paige Powers. Powers converted on 5-of-7 three-point FG attempts and finished with six rebounds while Ashley Mickens (six assists) recorded a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. Mines' Peanut Eickelman (6-of-9 FG, three assists, 4-of-4 FT), who connected on all four of her three-point FG attempts led all players with 20 points as the Orediggers fell to 12-16 overall (7-11 RMAC). RU's Courtney Ault (6-of-13 from three-point range) led her team with 20 points while Stevi Seitz (team-most eight rebounds) and Paulina Tuell (6-of-10 FG) concluded the evening with 15 and 13 points, respectively. (Jan. 24, 2008) - Chadron State College defeated Colorado School of Mines in overtime by the score of 60-58 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women's basketball action on Thursday evening, January 24th, at Armstrong Gymnasium. For the box score, click here. After trailing 30-20 at halftime, the Orediggers got 18 second-half points from Peanut Eickelman to help force overtime. With just over four minutes remaining in the second half, Chadron State led 53-47, but Mines' Emily Dalton tallied the final six points in regulation to send the contest into overtime. CSM established a brief one-point lead (54-53) at 4:08 in the extra stanza, but CSC went on to build a four-point advantage with 1:32 to play. Trailing by two with one second remaining on the clock, CSM had its final scoring opportunity erased when the Eagles' Corissa Kesterson blocked Eickelman's three-point FG attempt. Three Chadron State starters amassed double figures in scoring, including Samantha Arkulari (7-of-9 FT), who led the Eagles with 15 points. Chelsea DeHaven (six rebounds) and Sunni Busch (nine rebounds) compiled 11 and 13 points, respectively, for the Eagles (6-12 overall, 4-7 RMAC), who were outscored 33-23 in the second half. (Jan. 18, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Colorado Christian University in overtime by the score of 54-52 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women's basketball action on Friday evening, January 18th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here. Mines trailed by 10 points with 8:45 remaining in the second half before rallying to tie the contest at 42-42 with just under two minutes to play. After CCU (9-11 overall, 5-4 RMAC) regained a three-point advantage, a three-point field goal by CSM's Peanut Eickelman with only 12 seconds remaining sent the affair into overtime. Mines, which never trailed in the extra period, outscored the Cougars 7-5 in overtime to prevail and improve to 9-9 overall (4-4 RMAC). (Dec. 29, 2007) - The University of Mary and Colorado School of Mines both posted victories during day-two action at the 2007-08 Mines Holiday Classic on Saturday afternoon, December 29th, at Lockridge Arena. The University of Mary defeated Adams State by the score of 71-64 while the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers came away with a 66-46 victory over Bethany (Kan.) College. In the early game, four players reached double figures in scoring for the Marauders (7-4 overall), including Sonny Schulz who registered a game high of 20 points, shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Liz Sipma scored 13 points while Nicci Landdeck and Kristin Bear chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Nicole Tatum led the Grizzlies (6-6 overall) with 20 points. IN EXHIBITION GAME BOULDER, Colo. (Nov. 8, 2007) - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team played its second and last exhibition game on Thursday night against the NCAA Division I CU Buffaloes. Mines fell to the Big 12 Buffs, 58-31. Emily Dalton led the Orediggers with 14 points. Both Brecca Gaffney and Peanut Eickelman (four assists) had a team-high six rebounds. Jackie McFarland led the Buffs with her 17 points and eight boards. Mines will begin regular-season play next weekend (Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16th and 17th) with two games at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. The Orediggers face Northern State University on Friday and Wayne State on Saturday. Both games are set for 6:00 pm. - OREDIGGERS- CSM's Women's Basketball Falls to UNC 76-59 in Exhibition Game GREELEY, Colo. (Nov. 2, 2007) - The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team fell to the University of Northern Colorado on Friday night in an exhibition game, 76-59, at Butler - Hancock Hall. The Orediggers found themselves trailing 21-36 going into halftime, but were able to come out the second half and score 38 points, only two less than UNC's 40. Mines was led by sophomore Emily Dalton's 11 points and Brecca Gaffney's nine rebounds. Guard Peanut Eickelman led the team with her six assists and also chipped in eight points. Whitley Cox, who ended with 23 points and seven rebounds, paced the Bears. The Orediggers will return to action with an exhibition
game next Thursday, November 8th, against the University of Colorado
