ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH - WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
MIKE JACOBSMA

Mike Jacobsma begins his sixth season at Colorado School of Mines in 2008-09. Promoted to Associate Head Coach in May of 2008, Jacobsma previously served in the capacity of Assistant Coach at CSM from 2003-04 to 2007-08.

In 2007-08, the Orediggers went 13-16 overall (8-11 RMAC) to record their fifth consecutive season with double figures in wins. Mines had three players named to the 2007-08 All-RMAC teams, including Brecca Gaffney, who was selected as the East Division Freshman of the Year. CSM also had four student-athletes qualify for recognition on the Academic All-RMAC teams in 2007-08.

Two years ago (2006-07), Jacobsma helped guide CSM to a 15-13 overall record and a 12-7 mark in RMAC play. In 2006-07, the Orediggers qualified as the #6 seed for the annual RMAC Shootout, marking the fourth consecutive year during which CSM had reached the post season.

In 2005-06, the Iowa native helped CSM register a 16-14 overall record (8-11 RMAC) and reach the RMAC Shootout championship game for the first time in school history. CSM finished 19-9 overall (13-6 RMAC) in 2004-05 and reached the RMAC Shootout for the second straight year. In his first season as the Orediggers' assistant coach (2003-04), the Orediggers went 10-9 in conference play and qualified as the #7 seed in the RMAC Shootout. CSM's 12-16 overall record was an eight-game improvement from the previous season.

Jacobsma came to Colorado School of Mines after having served for two years as an assistant coach at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. During the 2002-03 season, Jacobsma was an interim assistant coach at Wayne State and helped lead the team to a 17-11 mark. In 2001-02, Jacobsma served as a graduate assistant for the Wildcats.

Jacobsma also has extensive experience working at various collegiate basketball camps (Iowa State, Creighton University, the University of South Dakota and Augustana College).

In addition, Jacobsma coached the Laurel - Concord Junior High basketball team for two seasons and was the City of Laurel's summer baseball league director in 2001. Jacobsma, who was an assistant varsity softball coach at Sibley - Och. Schools for four years, also spent time as a volunteer assistant softball coach at Wayne State in 1997.

Jacobsma earned his bachelor's (Education, 2001) and master's degrees (Education, 2003) from Wayne State.

Jacobsma and his wife, Bara, reside in Golden with their daughter, Isabelle.
