CSM CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT WOODY GRENNO INVITE
Women Place Third as Men Take Sixth

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Colorado School of Mines men's and women's cross country teams were in action on Saturday morning at the Woody Grenno/Nebraska Invitational at Pioneer's Park. The Oredigger women finished third of 28 teams with 136 points, while the men's squad was sixth of 28 teams with 179 points.

Leading the way for the CSM women's squad was the duo of juniors Heather Beresford (Monument, Colo./Lewis-Palmer) and Hannah Davey (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen). Beresford claimed third place in 22:34, while Davey was just one second behind for fourth place. Junior Serena Gardiner (Elizabeth, Colo./Elizabeth) was 32nd (24:34), while junior Loren Large (Thornton, Colo./Skyview) came in at 34th in 24:38.

On the men's side, sophomore Larry McDaris (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) and sophomore Joel Hamilton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) paced Mines with top-10 finishes. McDaris was eighth in 26:40, while Hamilton was ninth in 26:48.

Both teams will return to action on Oct. 2 at the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder, Colo.
