STACY CORYELL
ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH - OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS

Stacy Coryell is entering his seventh season as an assistant coach with the Colorado School of Mines football team. Coryell, who worked with the defensive lineman for his first five years at CSM, will once again coach the outside linebackers in 2007.

Coryell graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1978 where he lettered in football, wrestling and track for the Farmers. He earned All-League and All-America honors in high school and was the leading scorer in Jeffco in 1976.

Following his prep career, Coryell attended the University of New Mexico where he played running back in the old WAC Conference.

Coryell was responsible for the development of CSM defensive lineman Michael Lucas, who earned Second Team All-RMAC honors following the 2002 season, as well as Pat Carroll (Honorable Mention All-RMAC, 2003; Second Team All-RMAC, 2004) and Mark Donnelly (Second Team All-RMAC, 2004-05), who were both two-time All-RMAC picks.

In 2006, defensive end Marin Richardson earned Second Team All-RMAC honors for the second straight season after registering 62 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss and a team-high six sacks. Also a two-time National Football Foundation (NFF) Second-Team All-Colorado selection, Richardson was named the RMAC's Freshman Defensive Player of the Year in 2004.

Prior to arriving at Mines, Coach “C” served on the Wheat Ridge football staff for four seasons, three as a defensive line / running backs coach and one as the offensive coordinator. In 1994, he was part of the staff which led the Farmers to the 4A Colorado State Championship.

Coryell resides in Wheat Ridge with his wife, Jan, and their children, Jake, who played football at Nebraska - Kearney, and Taylor, who attends Western State College.
