CLEM GRINSTEAD
ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH - RUNNING BACKS

Clem Grinstead is entering his fifth season as an assistant football coach at Colorado School of Mines as the running backs coach.

Last season, Grinstead helped guide Bryan Florendo to First Team All-RMAC honors as the junior amassed 1,492 yards from scrimmage in 2005. Florendo ran 191 times for 913 yards and 15 touchdowns and also caught 53 passes for 579 yards and three more scores.

During his first three seasons assisting the running backs, Grinstead helped Craig VanHorn earn Second Team All-RMAC honors all three years as he has amassed 2,450 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns during that time. Van Horn left the program with 2,575 rushing yards, which ranks second on the all-time list. Van Horn also left the program as the school-record holder for average yards per rush for his career (5.2 ypc).

Grinstead is a native of New Orleans, La., and earned a BA in History and Criminology from Coe College in 1995. He played linebacker at Coe and earned a letter as he helped the team reach the NCAA Playoffs.

Prior to arriving at CSM, Grinstead spent a year coaching at Jefferson High School. He resides in Golden.
