MINES TO INDUCT SEVENTH HALL OF FAME CLASS
Dinner and Induction To Take Place on Friday Evening

GOLDEN, Colo. -- The Colorado School of Mines athletic department will induct its seventh class into the Hall of Fame at a banquet in the Ben Parker Student Center on Friday, September 6.

Joining the Hall as athletes will be Marv Kay, Sr. (class of 1940), Lynne (Terre) Leone (1994), Dennis Ulrich (1970) and Mike Ziegler (1990). In addition, CSM will induct the soccer teams of 1993-96 for their outstanding accomplishments, John and Mary Lee Rossi as Outstanding School of Mines Supporters and the 2001 Football team’s 52-45 overtime victory at Fort Hays State as a Historic Achievement/Event.

Kay was a four-year letterman in football for Mines and is widely considered the best lineman to ever play at CSM. A three-time All-Rocky Mountain Conference pick, Kay was also named an Associated Press All-American as well as a Colliers All-American in his final year at Mines.

Leone was a four-year letterwinner for both the basketball and softball teams at CSM. She is one of only five women to score more than 1,000 career points and was a First Team All-RMAC and Second Team All-District pick in softball as a senior.

Ulrich lettered four times as the quarterback for the Orediggers. In 1970, he was the total offense leader in the NAIA as he racked up 262.8 yards per game. A Honorable Mention KODAK All-American in 1970, Ulrich set 13 school records during his time in Golden.

Ziegler lettered four times in basketball from 1986-90 and was honored as the Co-MVP of the 1990 team. An all-conference performer all four years, Ziegler connected on an RMAC-record 125 three-pointers in a season as a senior and was also the first 2,000-point scorer in Mines history.

The CSM soccer teams of 1993-96 compiled a 39-26-2 mark under legendary Head Coach Bob Pearson. The teams captured four conference titles over the four-year span and finished the 1995 season ranked 24th nationally and sixth in the West Region.

John and Mary Lee Rossi will be honored for their outstanding support of Mines athletics over the years. John is a 1961 graduate of Mines and was a three-year letterman in football and a member of the 1958 Rocky Mountain Conference championship squad.

The 2001 Oredigger football squad will be honored for its thrilling 52-45 overtime victory at Fort Hays State last season. The victory marked CSM’s first win over the Tigers since 1972. Mines trailed 25-9 at halftime, only to score 43 points in the second half and overtime to earn the victory.

The evening will begin with a social hour at 6:00 pm and be followed by dinner at 7:00 pm.
