CSM ATHLETICS ANNOUNCES 11th HALL OF FAME CLASS
Three Individuals, One Team, Outstanding Supporters to Be Honored

GOLDEN, Colo. - The 11th Annual Colorado School of Mines Athletics Hall of Fame Class has been announced and includes three individuals, one team and an outstanding supporter.

The 11th Annual Hall of Fame Dinner and Banquet will take place on Friday, Sept. 15 in the Ben Parker Student Center at 5:00 pm. In addition, the inductees will be recognized at halftime of the CSM football game the following day against Adams State. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 pm at Brooks Field.

Joining the Hall as individuals will be basketball player Anne Bevington (Ralph), wrestler Scott Goodale and football player Russ Truby. In addition, the 1980-81 men's basketball team will be inducted. Rounding out the class are outstanding supporters Mike and Cathy Carr.

Bevington (Ralph) lettered in basketball from 1987-91 and was a three-time all-conference honoree. She led the RMAC in scoring (16.6 ppg) in 1987-88 and that total ranks as the fourth highest in a single season at CSM. Her career average of 14.2 points per game ranks third all-time at CSM and her 8.5 rebounds per game is fourth all-time in a career at CSM. During the 1987-88 season, Bevington (Ralph) dished out 95 assists which ranks fifth on the CSM single season list. She graduated in 1991 with a degree in chemical engineering.

Goodale, a 1996 graduate in Chemical and Petroleum Refining, is one of the most decorated grapplers in CSM history. He is a three-time All-American and earned Academic All-American honors in 1996. In 1994, Goodale placed seventh at the NCAA Division II National Championships. He followed that with a fourth place showing the following year before winning the national championship at 118 pounds in 1996. His national championship helped CSM to a seventh place finish in the team standings. A team captain in 1995 and 1996, Goodale was the RMAC and West Regional Champion in 1996.

Truby earned four letters as a defensive tackle on the football team from 1971-73 and 1975-76. During his senior season, Truby earned NAIA First Team All-RMAC, All-District VII and All-American accolades. In 1975 and 1976, Truby served as team captain and was named Outstanding Team Defensive Player. He was the Team MVP as a senior and was also named the Most Outstanding Freshman.

The 1980-81 men's basketball team, led by CSM Hall of Fame Coach Jim Darden, posted the best record in school history at 21-6. The team advanced to the NAIA District VII Tournament and defeated Fort Lewis and the University of Denver before falling to Western New Mexico in the District Championship Game. The squad was led by Bert Fleck, Tim Hermann and Jeff Rhodes who were all named to the All-RMAC Team. In addition, Fleck and Rhodes were named to the District VII All-Star Team.

The final inductees are Mike and Cathy Carr. The couple is being recognized as outstanding supporters of CSM athletics after establishing an endowment in 1983. Mike is a former CSM football player who graduated in 1957.
