Mines lands three on Academic All-RMAC wrestling teams;
Weitzel garners First Team recognition

GOLDEN, Colo. - Three student-athletes from the Colorado School of Mines wrestling squad have been recognized on the 2007-08 Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, as announced today by the RMAC.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC recognition, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20-or-better, be a starter or key reserve and have completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters (or three quarters) at their current institution.

Cody Weitzel, a 141-lb. junior who hails from Fort Morgan, Colo. (Fort Morgan High School), was named First Team Academic All-RMAC. Weitzel, who was the only Academic All-RMAC qualifier with a 4.00 cumulative GPA, is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Mines. Weitzel compiled a 14-15 overall mark (two falls) in 2007-08 and posted a 7-2 record against RMAC competition. Weitzel, who also earned Academic All-RMAC recognition as a sophomore in 2006-07, has qualified for the Dean's List during every semester of his college career. Also a team captain for the Orediggers, Weitzel was selected as the Freshman Chemistry Student of the Year in 2005-06.

A 133-lb. sophomore from Lakewood, Colo. (Lakewood High School), Kellen Costelow garnered Second Team Academic All-RMAC laurels. A Chemistry major who owns a 3.31 cumulative GPA, Costelow went 10-10 overall (one fall) and 4-3 in the RMAC this winter. A member of the Dean's List, Costelow has also earned recognition on the Honor Roll at CSM.

Sean Studer, a junior heavyweight from Pismo Beach, Calif. (Arroyo Grande High School), earned recognition on the Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll. Also an Academic All-RMAC selection as a sophomore in 2006-07, Studer currently carries a 3.42 cumulative GPA while majoring in Physics. Studer, a member of the Dean's List at CSM, went 3-5 overall (2-0 in the RMAC) during the 2007-08 season.
