MINES MEN'S SWIMMING COMPETES AT UNLV WINTER INVITE LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Colorado School of Mines swimming and diving teams were in action over the weekend at the UNLV Winter Invitational. Both the men and were 2nd among two Division II schools. Perrenial power Cal-State Bakersfield defeated both the CSM men and women. Leading the way for Mines was junior Travis Kummer (Erie, Colo./Niwot) who had an outstanding meet as he posted three NCAA "A" cuts and an NCAA "B" cut. Kummer posted his "A" cuts in the 100 Breast (57.65), the 200 Breast (2:05.01) and the 200 Individual Medley with a CSM record time of 1:53.52. By posting the NCAA "A" cuts, Kummer has automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in March. He also registered an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 Butterfly with a Mines record time of 51.88, meaning he has provisionally qualified in that event. CSM will now enjoy its Christmas Break before returning to action on Jan. 15 when it hosts Metro State at 1:00 pm. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
