MINES SWIMMING AND DIVING COMPETES AT NORTH CENTRAL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

OMAHA, Neb. - The Colorado School of Mines swimming and diving teams concluded the regular season at the 2005 North Central Conference Championships at Nebraska-Omaha's HPER Building Swimming Pool from Feb. 16-19.

The CSM men placed fourth of six teams, while the Oredigger women were seventh of eight teams.

Leading the way for the men's squad was junior Nate Skitt (Westminster, Colo./Westminster) who qualified for Nationals in the 1-meter diving with his score on six dives.

Junior Andy McAliley (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) also performed well for Mines as he won the 400 IM, placed second in the 1000 Free and third in the 500 Free. His times in the 400 IM and 1000 Free were NCAA "B" cut times.

On the women's side, freshman Renee Rainguet (Golden, Colo./D'Evelyn) concluded a brilliant first season by setting another school-record (2:31.14) in the 200 Breast. It is the seventh straight meet in which she has set a school-record in the event.

Skitt, along with other national qualifiers, will now prepare to compete at the NCAA Division II National Swimming and Diving Championships from Mar. 9-12 in Orlando, Fla.
