FOUR CSM TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES COMPETE IN CALIFORNIA

CALIFORNIA - Four members of the Colorado School of Mines track and field team traveled to California to compete in three different meets on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16, 2005.

Starting things off for the Orediggers was sophomore Ryan Miles (Greta, Neb./Gretna) in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at Pomona College. Ryan finished the race in school record time of 9:36.39 and finished sixth overall. In the next race, sophomore, Larry McDaris (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) ran the 1,500 meters posting a personal best time of 3:57.78 to finish 26th.

After that it was on to the Mt. SAC relays at Mt. San Antonio College. McDaris ran in the 1,500-meters and improved his time from Friday to 3:55.09 just over a second away from the provisional standard of 3:54.00. Finally, Peacock ran in the 400-meters and blazed to vicotry in an all Division I field with a seasaon and personal best time of 47.05, good enough to solidify his third place standing on the National List.

The Oredigger track and field teams will return to action on Saturday when they compete at the Travis McKinley Open in Alamosa, Colo.
