MINES TRACK AND FIELD COMPETES AT TOM BENICH CLASSIC GREELEY, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines outdoor track and field teams were in action on Saturday afternoon at the Tom Benich Classic on the campus of Northern Colorado. The meet was unscored. Senior Jared Peacock (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Highlands Ranch) led the way for the men's squad as he won the 400-meter run with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 47.20. It marked the second straight week he won an event after he captured the 800-meter run at Colorado State last weekend. Sophomore Ryan Miles (Gretna, Neb./Gretna) also fared well for CSM as he placed third in the 5,000-meter run in 15:49.85. On the women's side, junior Serena Gardiner (Elizabeth, Colo./Elizabeth) placed fifth in the 800-meters (2:21.15), while sophomore Melanie Peddle (Greeley, Colo./Greeley West) was fifth in the 1,500-meter run (4:58.47). Junior Hannah Davey (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) also placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 18:42.37. Both teams are slated to return to action on Saturday when they compete at the University of Colorado Invitational in Boulder. -- OREDIGGERS -- |
