MINES VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS REGIS, 3-0

DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Regis on Tuesday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action at Regis Fieldhouse. It was CSM's first victory over Regis in volleyball since Nov. 2, 1996, a span of 15 matches.

The Orediggers (11-14, 6-10 RMAC) were paced by junior outside hitter Kelly Desens (Aurora, Colo./Overland) who tallied a team-best 14 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Mabe (Lakewood, Colo./Denver Lutheran) and sophomore middle hitter Amanda Rebol (Fort Morgan, Colo./Fort Morgan) tallied 11 kills each, while Rebol also amassed seven blocks. Junior libero Sarah Alsbrooks (Paola, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) showcased her scrappy defense once again and registered a match-best 18 digs.

Regis (11-13, 9-7 RMAC) was led by Holly Yamada's double-double of 19 kills and 13 digs. Nikki Peniata dished out 44 assists, while Cassie Skipitis also reached double digits in kills with 13.

Mines will return to action on Friday night when it hosts Chadron State at 7:00 pm in Volk Gymnasium.
