MINES VOLLEYBALL DROPS 3-1 MATCH TO REGIS IN RMAC OPENER GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team was handed a 3-1 setback by Regis University in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Tuesday night in Volk Gymnasium. It was the RMAC opener for both teams, as the Rangers improved to 3-6 overall (1-0 RMAC), while the Orediggers fell to .500 on the season at 5-5 overall (0-1 RMAC). Leading the way for Mines was junior outside hitter Kelly Desens (Aurora, Colo./Overland) and sophomore setter Katherine Muterspaugh (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) who each tallied double-doubles. Desens tied for the team lead with 12 kills and totaled 11 digs, while Muterspaugh tallied 40 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Amanda Rebol (Fort Morgan, Colo./Fort Morgan) tied Desens with 12 kills, while junior libero Sarah Alsbrooks (Paola, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) registered a team-best 25 digs. Regis was paced by Holly Yamada's 15-kill, 18-dig effort, while Laura Bisio (15), Sarah Jackson (11) and LaVanda Mireles (10) also tallied double digits in kills. Nikki Peniata dished out a game-best 55 assists, while Catherine Perez recorded a game-high with 28 digs.
