MINES VOLLEYBALL TOPS WESTERN STATE, 3-2

GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines volleyball team earned a 3-2 victory over Western State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Saturday night in Volk Gymnasium. Game scores were 30-21, 28-30, 30-26, 19-30, 15-12.

The Orediggers were led by junior outside hitter Kelly Desens (Aurora, Colo./Overland) who totaled 14 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore setter Katherine Muterspaugh (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) amassed a career-best 67 assists and 14 digs, while junior outside hitter Samantha Bauer (Lakewood, Colo./Dubai UAE) and sophomore middle hitter Amanda Rebol (Fort Morgan, Colo./Fort Morgan) each tied for team-high honors with 16 kills.

The Mountaineers (5-13, 2-8 RMAC) received a match-best 17 kills from Erin Oleson and Jen Reichert, while Erin Hutt dished out 57 assists and recorded 12 digs.

CSM (7-13, 2-9 RMAC) returns to action on Friday when it hosts Adams State at 7:00 pm in Volk Gym.
