NEBRASKA-KEARNEY WINS NCAA II WEST REGIONAL/RMAC TITLE GOLDEN, Colo. - Behind four individual winners and three runner-ups, the University of Nebraska-Kearney claimed the 2007 NCAA Division II West Regional/RMAC Championship on Sunday at Colorado School of Mines' Steinhauer Fieldhouse and Volk Gym. UNK heavyweight Tervel Dlagnev was named the RMAC Most Outstanding Wrestler as he captured the title in his weight class. Dlagnev pinned Vincent Bordi of San Franciso State in the first round (1:31) and then received two forfeits on the way to the title. Other UNK champions were 125-pounder Trevor Charbonneau, 133-pounder Brett Allgood and 157-pounder Joe Ellenberger. New Mexico Highlands 141-pounder Ross Montour claimed the first Cowboy title in more than 20 years when he earned a 16-8 win over James Annon of Fort Hays State. Chadron State's Mark Pfeifer won the 149-pound title with an 8-6 decision over Camille DuPont of Western State. At 165 pounds, Brett Hunter of Chadron State joined Pfeifer as a champion when he pinned Taylor May of Kearney in 4:07. Top-seeded Larry Wilbanks of Western State followed with a 4-3 win over James Reynolds of Adams State to win the 174-pound championship, while Jared Deaguero of Adams State won the 184-pound title with a 6-4 win over Matt Farrell of UNK. ASC's Casey Woodall, the top ranked 197-pounder in the nation, claimed a 5-1 win over Kelsey Empting of UNK before Dlagnev concluded the night with his forfeit win. The top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships to be contested March 9-10 in Kearney, Neb.
