Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking

Instructions for installing the Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking Script:

  1. Download the CSM56K_script.scp file and save it in the C:\Program Files\Accessories directory.
  2. Go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Dial-Up Networking. Right-Click on the icon you normally use to dial in to CSM (e.g., CSM56K or CSM). Choose the "Scripting" tab. Choose "Browse" in the "Script File" box. Select the file named "CSM56K_script.scp" and choose "Open". If this file is not listed, it was not downloaded into the correct directory, and you must repeat step 1. If you did this correctly, the full path and file name will be displayed, and you may choose OK.
  3. Choose the "General" tab and choose "Configure" under the "Connect using" box. Choose the "Options" tab. There will be two boxes under "Connection Control" called "Bring up terminal window before dialing" and "Bring up terminal window after dialing." MAKE SURE THAT BOTH OF THESE BOXES ARE UNCHECKED. Choose OK, and then choose OK again to save all changes.
  4. Now, double-click your connection icon (e.g., CSM56K or CSM.) Enter your User name and Password. You may check the box marked "Save Password" if you don't want to have to type it in again. Choose the "Connect" button.

The terminal window will not appear. Your computer will automatically connect with a CSM 56K modem.
