Samples of working LATEX documents

Download and extract the following files, each one into a different directory. On Linux systems, you will need to either use the fileroller GUI program, or the command line commands: gunzip and tar -xvf. Once you download them, run through the sequence of commands above, and compare the input (the .tex file) with the output (the .ps or .pdf file).

A sample file with the required images, and a template file with a required image are available for you examine and experiment with. Finally, one last sample and requisite figures.

Exhortations:
1. Keep open a functioning LATEX file such as skeleton.tex while using Kile, rather than try to kludge together an appalling hodge-podge of commands you got off some godforsaken Web site somewhere else!
2. Kile is good about nested environments, but won't tell you where (or whether) to put in a tableofcontents etc. For this, refer to the samples above.
