Research Interests
I have always been fascinated by boundaries: mountain faces, the seashore, new art and literature; they are the places where rapid change occurs and processes (physical, social or intellectual) are the most intense. Boundaries are particular importance to environmental engineers and scientists because processes operating at these places (e.g., the air/water, mineral/solution or sediment/water interfaces) often regulate the composition of an entire system, whether natural or engineered.
