The Department of Mathematical & Computer Sciences (MCS) at the Colorado School of Mines is composed of 21 faculty members, nearly 220 undergraduates and 50 graduate students. Housed in Chauvenet and Stratton Halls on 14th Street in Golden, CO, our department has a record of continued excellence in teaching and research.
Our mission is four-fold:

• to provide a quality education for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in applied mathematical and computer sciences;
• to provide a quality education in the applied mathematical and computer sciences for non-major undergraduate and graduate students as a service to other departments at CSM;
• to have strong research programs in the applied mathematical and computer sciences conducted by faculty and involving undergraduate and graduate students;
• to have a strong research component in mathematics and computer science education.
