BARBARA JOHNSON

Barbara Johnson

Barbara (aka BeeJay, Bahbahwah, Babs, Mustang Sally, or Excuse Me M’am) Pratt-Johnson joined the Physics Department as the Department Secretary in April of 1995. She came to CSM from the Department of Health and Human Services at the Division of Mental Health at Fort Logan (which is why she fits in so well here).

She received a diploma in the Administrative Assistant program from a local business college in February of 1988. In November of 1991, she completed the 16-week Dale Carnegie course for human relations and public speaking. She then served as a volunteer Graduate Assistant for the next session of the same course. She has served on the board of the CSM Classified Employees Advisory Council (CEAC), as the classified employee representative on the CSM Presidential Search Advisory Committee, and on the CSM Community Art Show 2000 Organizing Committee.

Barbara has 13 years of experience as a "Clerical Goddess." In her office-related experience, she has worked for several stock brokerage/investment banking firms (it was mostly un-bear-a-bull), the elevator/escalator repair industry (it had its ups and downs), and the regional sales office of Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals (leaving there was a bitter pill to swallow). In between office jobs, she worked in a Montessori day care center and volunteered at the Denver Dumb Friends League.

On a personal note, she is married to Joe Johnson, a draftsman in the wood/sheet metal industry. They are full-time parents of a smiley Samoyed, Dakota of Crystal Ranch, two cats named Felix and Domino, and their latest arrival: a restored 1973 Mach 1 Ford Mustang painted in "Speeding Ticket Red." In their spare time they travel, work on their house, and ride their four-wheelers (ATVs). Barbara is a voracious reader (her current recommendations are anything written by Clive Cussler and Stephen King’s Dark Tower series) and fully believes the statement, "so many books, so little time." She is also keeping busy by serving as Treasurer on the board of the Women’s Investment Team.
