Mathematical and Computer Sciences
Broadly speaking, math is the study of patterns. When you apply it, you can better understand everything from the nature of the universe to process engineering to decision making in economics and business. Computer science, a close cousin, has its roots in math but involves the development of software and the programs that make computers do what they do.

What's different about it?

At CSM you can choose from one of two specialties in the Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) program: the first emphasizes modeling, analysis, and computation, and the second is a specialty in computer science.

Although many mathematics programs are theoretically based, CSM's is more hands-on. For example, we require a summer field session that mimics a business or research environment. You'll work in small teams, accomplish weekly goals, and make written reports and oral presentations. Through the summer field session you'll also have the chance to network with potential employers who know CSM and the quality of our students.

What can I do with it?

Grads from CSM's Mathematical and Computer Sciences program have gone to graduate school, and begun careers with major companies and business throughout the U.S.
