McBride Honors Program in Public Affairs
The McBride Honors Program is for students who want to be leaders. Because it blends the humanities and social sciences with the study of engineering, the McBride Honors Program offers a special opportunity.
A faculty of humanists, engineers, and social and physical scientists teaches in the program, and through small seminars, a close student-faculty relationship is formed.

After the junior year, students complete a summer internship, foreign study, or public service work. Internships show students how organizations function, and have included summer positions at IBM, BP, ExxonMobil, Coors Brewing Company, and other companies.

Admission to McBride is based on an essay, leadership potential, writing and speaking abilities, and an interview with two faculty members, not just test scores, GPA, and class rank.
Music Program Study Abroad
With more than 225 participants, the MInes Music Program offers courses and activities for students interested in music. Courses include music theory and activities include Marching, Concert, and Jazz bands, Flute and Brass choirs, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and A Capella Jazz Octet. Students may use up to three hours of credit for band or choir to fulfill free-elective credits, and midi lab stations capable of delivering notation tutorials and composition programs are also available.

Outstanding students in band and chorus are eligible for music scholarships in their sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Science, engineering, technology, and business are globally connected professions. For future leaders, effective cross-cultural experiences are essential.

At Mines, our Study Abroad Program gives students the opportunity to live and study at more than 50 universities located in Europe, Australia, Latin America, and Asia and the Middle East.

Our partner universities have strong programs in science and engineering that complement the Mines curriculum, and approved credits in the Study Abroad Program can fulfill Mines graduation requirements.

The Office of International Programs works with students in planning their study abroad programs. Our goal is to match students' interests, language skills, and academic programs with an appropriate exchange university.
