Advanced Placement Credit

Credit for the Advanced Placement program is granted to students who receive a score of 4 or 5 on the designated exam. AP scores are used by the Registrar to place students in appropriate freshman courses. In some cases, departmental approval is required before credit is granted. Credit is shown as transfer credit on the CSM transcript, however no grade is associated with the credit.

Current information effective for academic year 2009-2010

*Note: A student who receives a 4 or 5 on the Calculus AB Advanced Placement exam or a 4 on the Calculus BC exam will placed in Calculus for Scientists and Engineers II (Honors). These students will be awarded 4 hours of credit for Calculus I.
**Note: A student who receives a 5 on the Calculus BC Advanced Placement exam will be placed in Calculus for Scientists and Engineers III (Honors). In order to receive 8 hours of credit for Calculus I and II, the student must successfully complete Calculus III. If a student does not complete the course, he/she only receives 4 hours of credit for Calculus I and must enroll in Calculus II or Calculus II (Honors).
***Note: If a student receives credit for both Microeconomics & Macroeconomics, they are exempt from taking Principles of Economics.
^Note: LAIS equates to Liberal Arts and International Studies. An AP score of 4 or 5 equates to 3 credit hours in LAIS free elective credit.
^^Note: LIFL equates to Liberal Arts Foreign Language. AP scores of 4 or 5 equate to 6-9 credit hours in either 200 or 300 level foreign language credit.
