To apply for need-based financial aid, you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1, so that our Financial Aid Office can receive the results by March 1, our priority date for financial aid. (Applications received later will still be considered, however.) The FAFSA is available in high school counselors’ offices, or click here to access it on the Web. as well as on the Web.

If you selected CSM (school code 001348) to receive your FAFSA information, the Department of Education will send the information directly to us.

After we review your FAFSA information, we will send you a Financial Aid Announcement explaining your award. Typical financial aid packages may include the following:

Grants: Grants are available from federal, state, and CSM grant funds. Federal programs include the Pell Grant Program and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program. Colorado grant funds include Colorado State Grants and Leveraging Educational Assistance Program Grants.

Loans: Loans come from both federal and private loan programs. Federal programs include Stafford Student Loans and Perkins Loans. Principal and interest payments do not start until after graduation.

Work-study: Work-study funds come from federal, state, and CSM funds. Students work 8–12 hours a week and earn $900–$1,500 a year to help pay for books, travel, and other expenses. Work schedules are flexible and don’t conflict with studies.
