Mines to Show Off for Gov. RitterGOLDEN, Colo., March 19, 2007—Gov. Bill Ritter will visit the Colorado School of Mines campus March 20 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mines President M.W. “Bill” Scoggins will lead Ritter on a tour of state-of-the-art educational and research sites, including a Physics 100 Lab and the Colorado Fuel Cell Center, and then introduce the governor to faculty, staff and students at a Campus Forum—to be held outside if weather permits. Joining the governor will be David Skaggs, executive director of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, and Tom Plant, director of the Governor's Office of Energy Management and Conservation. For a map of the campus, go to http://www.mines.edu/csm_maps/click.shtml . Gov. Ritter's visit will begin in Building A-5, the General Research Lab, where he will see Mines' work on solar energy and fuel cells. His next stop will be in Building F-4, CTLM, where he will visit a physics lab with students doing work on “force in motion and energy.” The governor's final stop will be on Kafadar Commons in the center of campus, E-2, for an All-Campus-Forum. (In case of inclement weather, the forum will be moved into the Green Center, F-1.) There will be great photo opportunities at each site. During the Campus Forum, the Mines marching band, in their plaid shirts and hardhats, will play and a big crowd is expected. Illinois Street will be blocked to regular traffic, but open to media.
