| 1. Do I need a permit if I only park on the street and not in the lots? |
YES. If you park within the CSM campus boundaries, including Mines Park, you are required to have a permit on your vehicle. |
| 2. What do I need to do if I have a visitor? |
Plan ahead. Visitors are required to display a CSM permit. If you are expecting a visitor, stop in to the Public Safety office and request a "temporary" Visitor permit, in advance. Be prepared with the license plate number when requesting temporary permits. If you're not able to plan ahead, bring your visitor to Public Safety for a permit when they arrive. The permit rule is generally more relaxed on weekends for visitors. |
| 3. I am a member of a fraternity and park in their privately owned lot. Why should I get a permit? |
All CSM community members that park their vehicles on this campus, including fraternity lots and city streets are required to follow the rules set forth by the School of Mines Board of Trustees, which require all vehicles to display a CSM parking permit and obey all policies. |
| 4. If I am given permission by my RA to park in his/her RA spot, why did I get a parking ticket? |
RA's and other individuals do not have authority to give permission to anyone else to park in any Reserve space. |
| 5. Can I leave my vehicle on campus while I go out of town? |
If your vehicle is left unattended for more than a few days, it may likely be considered abandoned and is subject to being towed. Stop in at Public Safety and let us know your needs. |
| 6. Can I do maintenance work on my vehicle while on campus? |
No. All vehicles left on campus are required to be in proper running condition. If your vehicle breaks down, you should have it moved as quickly as possible. |
| 7. What if I have more than one vehicle I drive? |
You may obtain a permit for each vehicle you drive, however only one vehicle may be on campus at a time. The only exception to this rule is if you are married and living in student housing and your spouse lives with you. Only then are you allowed 2 vehicles on campus. |
| 8. Can I park in the Reserve lots on weekends? |
All Reserve lots are monitored daily. Some are reserved 7am to 5pm Mon - Fri only, while others are reserved 24/7. Please read the posted signs. |
| 9. Where is the closest place to CSM to get a Colorado Driver License? |

| 11. Can I skateboard/snowboard on campus? |

| 12. May I bring my dog to campus? |

| 13. Can I bring a firearm to campus? |
Firearms are not allowed on campus except for on-duty policemen. Student firearms and others must be stored at the Public Safety office. |
