CSM Specific Parking Regulations
A. NO PARKING zones may be designated by either a “No Parking” sign, or yellow painted curb or both. In any case parking in such a zone is prohibited, except for marked emergency vehicles, or maintenance vehicles as specified in the memo of understanding executed between the Plant Facilities and Public Safety departments.
B.(1) FIRE LANES may be designated by either a red painted curb, or a sign reading “Fire Lane” or both. In any case parking in such a zone is prohibited and may result in immediate impoundment of an offending vehicle.
B.(2) RESERVED SPACES Parking in a Reserved Parking Space without the appropriate permit, or express permission of the person assigned to that space is prohibited from 7:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Certain Reserved Parking Spaces are marked as being reserved 24 hours a day. Those spaces always require the appropriate parking permit. It should be noted that when an unauthorized vehicle parks in a reserved space the violator is effectively stealing the use of that space from the person who pays to park there.
Spaces
and/or lots which are marked with signs reading "Reserved Parking" are
restricted to persons authorized to park in those areas Monday through Friday
7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Spaces and/or lots that are marked with signs reading
"Assigned Parking Only" are restricted to persons authorized to park in those
areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
C. Parking in any restricted lot e.g., “Official Business/Visitor” lots, without the appropriate permit is prohibited.
D. Parking on campus and failing to display a valid CSM parking permit or vehicle registration is prohibited.
E. Parking outside the painted boundaries of a parking space in any parking lot with marked spaces is prohibited. (It should be noted that the contract signed by residents of Mines Park requires that they park only in designated spaces.)
F. Parking on lawns, grass or any unpaved area not intended for vehicular travel, or in any off-street area not specifically designated for motor vehicle parking is prohibited.
G. Performing major work on motor vehicles on streets or in parking lots on the CSM campus is prohibited. Major work is defined as anything requiring disassembly of the engine, drive train, or other essential components of a motor vehicle.
H. Parking within 20 feet of any wheelchair ramp cut in a curb is prohibited.
I. Parking against the flow of traffic (on the wrong side of the street) is prohibited.
J.
Parking a vehicle parallel to the curb and failing to leave at least two (2)
feet between the bumpers of vehicles on either side of one's vehicle is
prohibited.
K. Parking in such a manner as to interfere with the mission of the school or its departments, e.g. parking in an area that has been temporarily closed to parking for to give access for maintenance work.
