ConocoPhillips chairman to deliver Mines commencement address

GOLDEN, Colo., May 7, 2010 – James Mulva, chairman and chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips, will present “Passing the Torch of Responsibility” during the 136th annual commencement ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. on May 14 on Kafadar Commons, 1500 Illinois St. in Golden.
The Mines Board of Trustees will award 549 bachelor of science degrees, 139 master’s degrees and 20 doctorate degrees. During the ceremony, Mulva will be awarded an honorary degree.
Mulva has served in his current corporate position since the merger of Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. in 2002. Prior to that, he was chairman and CEO of Phillips Petroleum. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for General Electric, is a member of The Business Council and serves on the Board of Visitors for the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
