Denver Mayor Hickenlooper to deliver Mines Midyear Convocation address

GOLDEN, Colo., Dec. 15, 2009 – The Honorable John Hickenlooper, mayor of Denver, will present the graduation address, “Multiple working hypotheses: How a geologist can use science, collaboration and innovation to help govern a city,” during Mines’ Midyear Degree Convocation Dec. 18 at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center, 1651 Elm St. in Golden

Degrees to be awarded include 178 bachelor of science degrees, 167 master of science degrees, and 20 doctor of philosophy degrees. 
 
Hickenlooper, who will receive an honorary degree from Mines, will draw on his diverse background as an exploration geologist and developer of the Wynkoop Brewing Company — the first brewpub in the Rocky Mountains and one of the largest in the world — as well as host of the 2008 Democratic National Convention and the recipient of a National Preservation Award from the National Trust for Historical Preservation.
