Outreach

Mines offers a wide range of educational programs to audiences beyond the campus, extending the academic services of the school throughout the U.S. and around the world through specialized courses, programs, conferences and other activities.

The cash-funded Office of Special Programs and Continuing Education (SPACE) office administers all off-campus educational programs on behalf of the school, providing administrative, logistical and fiscal support to Mines faculty members, departments and centers involved in a wide array of educational outreach activities. The office also provides administrative support for a number of institutional strategic enterprises throughout the world.

The Short Course & Conference Program provides forums in which Mines faculty members and other experts can share their technical expertise with a wide range of audiences.  

The K-12 Outreach Program offers one of the largest science, mathematics and technology-content-based professional development programs in the nation for K-12 teachers, providing programs for more than 3,000 K-12 educators each year. In addition, the program provides courses for K-12 students through Student Programs. The Denver Earth Science Project (DESP) offers curricula and training through highly acclaimed classroom modules addressing topical earth-science topics. 

The International Institute for Professional Advancement (IIPA) offers customized educational programs in a wide range of disciplines at venues throughout the world. Clients include foreign ministries, international companies, multinational corporations and other clients.

The Mine Safety and Health Training Program develops training materials and offers courses and hands-on training for the mining industry and first responders from throughout the U.S.

The Energy and Minerals Field Institute (EMFI) offers customized field programs and events for key government decision-makers from the federal sector and state government, addressing energy and mineral development in the western U.S.
