Employment Classifications
As a public higher education institution, Mines has two major employment classifications:  Faculty and Classified Staff.  Faculty positions encompass academic, research and professional positions while classified staff positions are part of the State of Colorado Personnel System.  Each employment classification has its own set of governing policies and procedures, as well as benefit programs.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment at Mines is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background investigation. Every background investigation will include a criminal records history check, including the sex offender registry. All background investigations will be conducted in accordance with Mines policy and the requirements of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and its regulations.
  • All new hires must be able to provide proof of work authorization in the United States within three business days of hire. Colorado School of Mines participates in the federal E-Verify program.
  • All employees are required to have their paychecks distributed via direct deposit to a checking or savings account.
