Guests are encouraged to be in their seats no later than 9:15 a.m. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and typically lasts around 2.5 hours.
Each graduating student receives a limited number of tickets.
For the spring commencement, if the ceremony is held outdoors on Kafadar Commons, guests with tickets are seated first. Guests without tickets will be seated after ticketed guests are seated. If the ceremony is moved indoors due to inclement weather, only ticketed guests can be accommodated in Lockridge Arena in the Student Recreation Center. Those without tickets may be seated in Bunker Auditorium of the Green Center where the ceremony will be broadcast.
For the winter commencement, only ticketed guests can be accommodated in Lockridge Arena for the ceremony.
Inclement weather plans
The decision to move the spring outdoor ceremony to Lockridge Arena in the Student Recreation Center in the event of inclement weather will be made by 7 a.m. the Thursday before commencement. Students will be notified via e-mail and a notice will be posted on the Mines home page.
Due to space limitations with the indoor venue, every effort is made to keep the ceremony outdoors. Guests are encouraged to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Water stations will be available on the perimeter of Kafadar Commons, but guests are also welcome to bring bottled water. Guests may wish to consider wearing comfortable shoes; if the ground is damp, high-heeled shoes may be a problem.

*The City of Golden is issuing parking tickets for vehicles parked in several residential areas surrounding campus. Please look for street signs indicating residential parking only and park accordingly or you will be ticketed by the city.*

Because of the large number of guests on campus for commencement, please plan for adequate time to find parking.
Students or guests with disabilities who need any special arrangements are encouraged to contact the Student Life Office at 303-273-3231 for assistance.
An American Sign Language interpreter will be on stage during each commencement ceremony.
Disability parking spaces, marked in blue, are located throughout the campus. These spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying state-issued (any state) disability placards or license plates.
Child Care services
Free child care for children 8 and under is provided in Room 295 in the Green Center during the spring ceremony, and in Room 125 in the Student Recreation Center during the winter ceremony. No reservations are required. Children who are attending the ceremony will need their own tickets, unless they are young enough to be seated on their parents' laps.
A professional photographer will photograph students as they receive their diplomas. Students may contact the photographer to get their proofs within 48 hours. The photographer's contact information will be provided to students during graduation practice.
Guests may not approach the stage to take photographs or videos, but they will be permitted to take pictures from their seats. Please remember not to block the aisles or obstruct the views of other guests.

The commencement ceremony is not videotaped or made available on DVD. The text of the commencement speech will be posted on the Mines web site as soon as possible following the ceremony.
There is no smoking on the Mines campus.
No pets are allowed at the ceremony, except for service animals working with people with disabilities.
