McCray named Mines Environmental Science and Engineering Division Director

GOLDEN, Colo., May 26, 2010 – Mines Professor John McCray has been named director of the Environmental Science and Engineering Division.

McCray earned his doctorate in hydrology and water resources from the University of Arizona and his master’s degree in environmental systems engineering from Clemson University. He has been a professor at Mines since 1998 and has mentored 35 students to complete graduate degrees, including 11 PhD students.
He directs the Hydrologic Science and Engineering Graduate Program, serves as chair of the ASCE National Ground Water Quality Committee and is associate director of the Center for Environmental Study of Subsurface Processes. McCray also is associate editor for several journals and has served on several expert panels for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation.
