Mines ranks in Forbes' Top 10 Best Colleges for Women in STEM

GOLDEN, Colo., Dec. 16, 2010 – Colorado School of Mines ranks 10th in a Forbes analysis of “Best Colleges for Women and Minorities in STEM” (science, technology, engineering and math).
The Forbes story notes the American Council on Education reports 57 percent of all college students are women, but women only represent 45 percent of college math majors, 20 percent of computer science majors and 20 percent of engineering majors.
According to the 2010-11 College Salary Report by Payscale.com, majors with the highest starting and mid-career salaries are nearly all STEM degrees.
