Undergraduate Non-Degree Registration Information

Our undergraduate non-degree option is designed for students who are interested in taking courses at Mines, but do not plan on pursuing a degree at that time. Registration in requested courses is based on availablity (after all current students have registered for their courses), completion of the non-degree application and proof of prerequisites.

The Non-Degree Application will open and be processed on the following schedule by semester/term:


Spring semester begins on January 10, 2017
Summer I begins on May 15, 2017
Summer II begins in June 26, 2017


Fall semester begins on August 21, 2017
Spring semester begins on January 9, 2018
Summer I begins on May 14, 2018
Summer II begins on June 25, 2018

Non-Degree Application

The Non-Degree Application will open one month prior to the start of the semester or summer session. 

Non-Degree registration will take place the week prior to term start.

  • Only 12 hours of non-degree seeking courses may be applied towards a Mines degree.
  • Non-degree students do not qualify for financial aid.
  • Are you a high school student interested in taking college courses at Colorado School of Mines?  Please see our Concurrent Enrollment Guidelines.
  • Do you already have a bachelor’s degree or higher?  Regardless of class level of the course in which you would like to register, if you have already earned a bachelor’s degree or higher, please use the online Graduate application for admission to apply as a non-degree student – choose ‘Non-degree’ under ‘Application type’.
